Imperceptible Rupture  is a series of abstracted portraits started in 2014.

They are hollow shelled casts retrieved from flexible rubber molds made between 2002-2012. Small bits of textures from these casts were carefully fit into new assemblages, similar to mosaic tile, or the way I often unify cloth scraps.  In this way, the Imperceptible Rupture series dismantles aspects of my older work to generate something new. As new forms, Imperceptible Rupture cue material skins that contain a metaphysical or spiritual agency, similar to the way ceremonial masks imbue to a wearer.
