Haptic Tools are soft sculptures that can be shaped based on feel, as they are made with a heightened emphasis on texture and seaming.  In the "Together, Tacit" project, these textiles function as an accessible, participatory way to discuss how touch can be translated in different domains. 

The first Haptic Tool was made in October 2022 via a collaboration between myself and Laura Shaffer, a co-developer and BVI  (blind/visually impaired) volunteer in the “Together, Tacit” project.  Additional Haptic Tools were made for a September 2023 workshop with the Clovernook Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired  (Cincinnati, Ohio). As the project continues, more designs will be sewn and shared with the BVI population.
